Facebook, The Real King of Buzz? A Interview with News 91.9

It seems that Facebook is the really king of "buzz". (I know, I'm so witty..lol :P ). With Google + opening up to the general public (you don't need an invite to join now), it seems Facebook strategically stole Google's thunder by releasing these changes at the same time as Google's announcement, creating quite a frenzy and almost pushing Google's announcement to the wayside.

Of course, I also recognize that Facebook's F8 Developer's conference was the very next day. Quite the coincidence though, eh?

Well Facebook's recent changes has everyone talking, especially mainstream media. I recently had the very fortunate opportunity to be interviewed by local New Brunswick radio host Tara Clow at Rogers New 91.9  (@nbmorningnews ) in regards to Facebook's recent changes, and why I believe that we tend to react so personally to those changes.

A quick thank you local Monctonian's @ShaunMacKenzie and Brian Cormier for the opportunity.

Why do you think changes to Facebook impact us on such a personal level?

  1. Go, Dave, go!  I love the way you brought Justin Bieber into the conversation.  Did he pay you for that mention? :)

  2. I secretly did a handshake deal with him in exchange for 100 000 followers. Then I realized my ideal target market is NOT screaming 16 year old girls, so I think I got the raw end of the deal.....LOL

  5. Wish I did Stan, it was over the phone.

I found this article rather informative about Facebook's smart lists, and why they needed to do this.

  6. Dave - I like your comparing what Facebook's new updates feels like to coming home to find your mother-in-law had re-arranged all the furniture.  It may be better, but it sure feels uncomfortable.... Nice interview.  I've just added Google+ and am adjusting to that, also. Thanks for the words of encouragement on the benefits of Google+
